10 Years Apart
I moved from Shanghai to New York 10 years ago.
Mom stayed. Video calls help, but they're not the same.
Distance makes the little things matter more.
"It Reminds Me of You"
Mom sent me a photo of a Labubu. "It reminds me of you," she said.
She hung it on her bag. But it bounced around, got dirty, stayed hidden.
"It should be somewhere I can see it," she told me.
So I Made This
I had no idea what I was doing, but I wanted her to smile.
I found a factory, designed a MagSafe grip, ordered a sample. Sent it to her.
She loved it.
She Loves It
"This is so much better," she said.
She takes photos with her Labubu now. Shows it off to friends.
It makes her happy. That makes me happy.
